The City of Mississauga, the City of Brampton and Metrolinx, as project co-proponents, have completed the Preliminary Design/Transit Project Assessment Process (TPAP) Phase for the introduction of Light Rail Transit (LRT) in the Hurontario-Main Street corridor.
In accordance with the TPAP prescribed in Ontario Regulation 231/08, Transit Projects and Metrolinx Undertakings (Transit Projects Regulation), the EPR describes the proposed transit project and documents the assessment of potential positive and negative impacts to the environment (including the natural, cultural, social and economic environments); commitments to mitigate adverse impacts and monitor outcomes; and the consultation process that occurred.
The EPR was made available for a 30-day public review period on June 19, 2014, and concluded on July 18, 2014. In accordance with the TPAP, the completed EPR was sent to the Minister of the Environment and Climate Change for a 35-day review period.
On August 25, 2014, following the 35-day review period, the Minster of the Environment and Climate Change provided the Cities of Mississauga and Brampton and Metrolinx, a Notice to Proceed following an extensive 120-day Transit Project Assessment Process. Therefore, on September 17, a Statement of Completion was submitted to the MOECC to formally complete the TPAP. The Cities of Mississauga and Brampton, along with Metrolinx, are pleased that this important milestone has been achieved, and would like to thank everyone for the valuable support and feedback provided during the project's public engagement program.
