 Public Consultation

Public and stakeholder consultation obtained during the Preliminary Design/Transit Project Assessment Process Phase of the project was an essential component of the overall design and implementation process. This is an exciting city-building and transformative community legacy project.

PIC #1
The first set of three Public Information Centres (PICs) was held in Brampton on June 25, 2012 and in Mississauga on June 26, 2012. PIC #1 presented the proposed LRT alignment, segregated lane options, the LRT stop locations and more. All PIC #1 display boards and handout materials are posted below.

PIC #2
The second PIC on May 14, 2013 in Mississauga and May 15, 2013 in Brampton, built upon the outcomes of PIC #1 and subsequent design developments to provide further recommendations for the LRT preferred alignment, the stops, the complete system and its integration. Extensive stakeholder consultation from this event gathered feedback, which in some instances was incorporated and reflected in the next series of concepts as the Preliminary Design and TPAP process moved forward. All PIC #2 display boards, alignment drawings and handout materials are posted below.
PIC #3
As part of the Transit Project Assessment Process (TPAP), the third and final PIC for the project was held on March 26, 2014 in Mississauga and March 27, 2014 in Brampton. PIC #3 built upon PIC #1 and PIC #2, presented the recommended corridor alignment and summarized the Engineering and Environmental studies that have been undertaken. This information, along with any proposed mitigation measures and monitoring recommendations were incorporated into an Environmental Project Report (EPR) that was made available for a 30-day public review period on June 19, 2014. All PIC #3 display boards, alignment drawings and handout materials are posted below.
In accordance with the TPAP, the completed EPR was sent to the Minister of the Environment and Climate Change for a 35-day review period. On August 25, following the review period, the Minister of the Environment and Climate Change provided the Cities of Mississauga and Brampton and Metrolinx, with a Notice to Proceed following an extensive 120-day Transit Project Assessment Process. Therefore, on September 17, a Statement of Completion was submitted to the MOECC to formally complete the TPAP. The Cities of Mississauga and Brampton, along with Metrolinx, are pleased that this important milestone has been achieved, and would like to thank everyone for the valuable support and feedback provided during the project's public engagement program.

Consultation Summary Reports

The views presented in these reports reflect the priorities and concerns of the consultation participants from Public Information Centres (PIC) #1, #2 and #3. The total number of feedback forms received at PIC #1 was 90, from PIC #2 was 157, and PIC #3 was 104, which represents a relatively small sample size.

The views recorded in the Consultation Summary Reports may not be representative of the broader community opinion and other key stakeholders along the Hurontario-Main alignment and as such, the information received is being considered along with the other inputs related to the project.

In addition to the corridor-wide PICs, we have also engaged with Agencies, property owners and ward/neighbourhood groups along the alignment through various other meetings and information sessions.
